    The Grimm Legacy

    in Children and Education

The Grimm Legacy by Polly Shulman middle school maybe in the 80's. It turns out that the magical world of fairy tales is true. You just have to go to the New York Circulating Material Repository to access it. There does seem to be some little proviso about proving yourself worthy, but other than that, you can withdraw magic boots, spindles, and mirrors as you would at any lending library. Elizabeth, a high school student whose life resembles Cinderella's, nabs a job as a page at the Repository. Her drab life transforms into heady adventure. Forces are at work. That's all I can say. Shh. No spoilers. What I can reveal is that Elizabeth wrestles with very real teenage angst, and even without the magic, her life takes shape with new friendships and new love. The imaginative whirl of events will engage the young and the old. (I'll vouch for the latter).
