    Guide to Shakespeare’s Macbeth

    in Children and Education

    · Guide to Shakespeare’s Macbeth(f) by Maria Fahey. Of Maria’s various books, I selected this one because when I was in college, I was one of the witches. Because of all the rehearsals, I know many lines by heart, so I figured I would be able to follow the suggestions. This is the sort of text that empowers students. Maria gives them tools, and they figure out how to interpret a metaphor, how to scan a line, and how to think about the action of the play. Sometimes her questions have specific answers and sometimes they are thoughtful opportunities for the students to interact with the text. Her preface and the appendices are designed to make the interpretive work accessible.
